Trail description
The route starts from Bormio, where a shuttle takes you to the Umbrail pass (at an altitude of 2488 m). A possible variant is to reach the Stelvio pass with the shuttle and then descend to the Umbrai pass from the Garibaldi refuge on a very bumpy and very stony single trail, in Swiss territory.
Continue the route, towards the Bocchette di Forcola, on a simple but slightly exposed single trail, where there are various remains of the First World War.
After an initial downhill section, go up towards the Bocchetta di Pedenolo. At this point you find yourself facing a first downhill section on a fluid and simple path.
A second section has a structure with rather narrow, exposed and demanding hairpin bends, but the panorama of the Cancano lakes is amazing. The path joins up with a dirt road that leads to the small church of Cancano.
At this point, you skirt Lake Cancano, pass over the S. Giacomo dam and take Valle Pettini.< /p>
Hard climb that leads to Malga Trela. Continuing on a pedalable and not too steep path, you soon reach Passo Trela. At this point, the tiring stretches are over and what you have in front of you is a beautiful descent on a single trail that leads to Val Torta and in a short time to Lake Livigno.
To reach the centre, use the beautiful cycle path.
