Ascent to Bormio 2000 by bicycle
The ski resort of Bormio is located in Bormio 2000, from where the cable car departs to take you up to Bormio 3000, used in winter for skiing and in summer for adrenaline-filled freeride mountain bike descents.
The ascent to Bormio 2000 - all on paved road - is suitable for racing bicycles: it is about 10 km long, with two very demanding sections.
Starting from Bormio (1,225 m a.s.l.) you immediately find yourself faced with a short stretch, with steep slopes. Proceed through the woods and face the first series of hairpin bends.
You then arrive at San Pietro, where you face the second stretch with a demanding slope. Continue with long straight stretches interspersed with hairpin bends, with slopes that are always regular until you reach Bormio 2000.
The average gradient of the climb is 7.5%, the maximum gradient of 12%, for a difference in altitude that exceeds 700 m.
